OUR STORY

Founded with a vision to bridge the gap in accessible and compliant psychedelic therapy training, Midwest Psychedelic offers a unique curriculum tailored to Missouri’s Legislative Requirements. Our founder, an experienced professional in the field, saw a need for specialized, intensive training that goes beyond the basics and focuses on real-world applications.

Our team comprises experts in pharmacology, psychotherapy, psychedelic research, and clinical practice. With decades of combined experience, our faculty is dedicated to providing the highest standard of education and support to our trainees.

  • Dr. Christine Julia Ziemer

    PROFESSOR, DEPT OF PSYCHOLOGY, MISSOURI WESTERN STATE UNIVERSITY

    Dr. Ziemer is a cognitive psychologist who received her PhD in psychology from the University of Iowa, with a concentration in Developmental Science. After creating an undergraduate course on transpersonal psychology and psychedelics for students at the Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, Dr. Ziemer created the Psychedelic Educators Network to serve the growing demand for psychedelic education. Dr. Ziemer also supports psychedelic harm reduction and peer support programs through the Fireside Project and Zendo Project, and in the Kansas City metropolitan area through the Kansas City Psychedelic Integration Circle. 

  • Jessica Wunder

    PMHNP, MSN, BSN, RN

    Jessica Wunder is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, providing psychiatric medical management, screening and assessment services, and is involved in providing clinical support for a Phase 1 psilocybin clinical trial. Previously, Jessica provided intake screening, psychiatric evaluations, and treatment plan development through Field Trip Health & Wellness. Jessica received her Bachelors in Nursing from Creighton University, a Masters in Nursing from Rush University, and served as a fellow at the Integrative Psychiatry Institute in Boulder, Colorado. Additionally, Jessica also is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association & the American Psychedelic Practitioners Association.

  • Dr. Robert 'Bob' Prue

    PhD

    Dr. Prue is a Citizen of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of Indians, also known as the Sicangu Lakota, and serves on the board of the Kansas City Indian Center as well as the Veteran’s Advocacy Committee for Mental Health at the Kansas City VA Hospital. Dr. Prue holds a PhD in Social Work from the University of Kansas, and formerly served as Chair of the Social Work Department in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Program Director for the University of Missouri-Kansas City Master of Social Work Program from 2015 to 2019. Dr. Prue has extensive social work practice history with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, and has published extensive research on native peyote traditions and the American Indian Religious Freedom Act.

  • Tara Haddon

    LSCSW, LCAC

    Tara Haddon holds clinical licensures in social work in Missouri and Kansas, and a licensure for addiction counseling in Kansas. Tara has previously served as a lead facilitator for Phase 1 trials of psilocybin and 5-MeO-DMT. She is currently a lead therapist on another Phase 1 trail with Psilocybin and is currently providing psychoeducation and post-dosing group support in a Phase 3 psilocybin clinical trial. Currently, Tara provides ketamine assisted psychotherapy, psychedelic integration services, individual and group psychotherapy and other clinical services at The Awaited Journey in Overland Park, Kansas. Tara received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Kansas State University and a Masters in Social Work from Washburn University.

  • Dr. Haley Fox

    MA, LPC/LMHC/LPCC, PhD, ATR-BCCS, MT-BC, REAT

    Dr. Haley Fox has over 35 years of experience as a licensed professional counselor and a registered expressive arts therapist, board-certified in both art therapy and music therapy, with special experience in integrating experiences from non-ordinary states. Currently, Dr. Fox provides individual and group psychotherapy, clinical supervision, and consultation in solo practice. Dr. Fox holds a PhD in clinical psychology from the Union Institute & University, a Masters in Art Therapy from Lesley University, and a Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider certification from the Integral Psychiatry Institute.

  • Dr. Zach Dillion

    DNP, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CPATP

    Dr. Dillon has spent the last three years in private practice, serving as the lead ketamine therapist and nurse practitioner, evaluating and treating patients with various types of mental health conditions. He has an extensive background in emergency, flight, and critical care medicine. After working in one of the largest psychiatric emergency departments in Kansas City, Truman Medical Center, he completed his master’s degree in nursing and obtained national board certification as a family nurse practitioner. As a nurse practitioner, he spent almost four years working for the department of trauma surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. In 2020 he began working on his doctoral research at Wichita State University, investigating the effects of ketamine for major depressive disorder. His research study was completed and presented in 2022, earning his doctoral degree in nursing practice. During his doctoral program at Wichita State, he completed a yearlong fellowship training program, in psychedelic assisted therapy, at the Integrative Psychiatry Institute in Boulder, Colorado. His training focused on the therapeutic use of ketamine, psilocybin, and MDMA, for the treatment of mental health conditions. In 2022, he completed his fellowship training and passed the certification exam to become a Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider. Dr. Dillon has personally facilitated over 1500 ketamine therapy sessions and implemented a therapeutic model around IV ketamine therapy to include preparation and integration therapy. He has a deep passion advancing clinical education regarding psychedelic medicine. 

  • Anne Bethune

    LCSW, LSCSW

    Anne Bethune holds clinical social licensure in Missouri and Kansas, with a master’s in social work from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Anne's psychedelic clinical trial experience is ongoing and includes lead facilitator for Phase 1 trials of psilocybin and 5-MeO-DMT, providing psychoeducation and post-dosing group support in a Phase 3 psilocybin clinical trial, and lead session monitor on a Phase 2 clinical trial using psychedelic medicine to treat depression. Anne has also provided ketamine assisted psychotherapy in the Kansas City metropolitan area since 2019 to clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, end of life distress, with expertise in veteran, first responder, and terminal patient populations.

  • Dr. Parag Bhatt

    PhD

    Dr. Parag Bhatt has been operating within the psychedelic wellness space since 2019, specializing in drug-drug interactions, contraindications to psychedelic use, drug delivery modalities, patient intake screening, and safety protocols during psychedelic treatments. He is responsible for conducting intake screenings, educating participants and medical staff at Silo Wellness on the neurophysiological effects of psilocybin-based treatments, and advises on dosing recommendations and experiences across varying doses of psilocybin, providing guidance on potential adverse effects and contraindications, particularly concerning medication interactions. Dr. Bhatt is a co-inventor of the world's first "magic mushroom" nasal spray. He earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Physiology from Saint Louis University School of Medicine, where his research focused on uncovering molecular mechanisms underlying many neurological and neuroaffective disorders in developing and mature organisms, in addition to the neurotrophic roles of serotonin and dopamine on developing neural circuits.
